Program date: 22nd September, 2021

Venue: Seminar Hall, D block, Methodist College of Engineering and Technology, Abids, Hyderabad.

An inaugural ceremony for the Google Developer Student Club at Methodist College of Engineering and Technology was held on Wednesday 22nd September, 2021 at 2:00pm in The Seminar Hall, D block, MCET.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished faculty members and students. The program started with a power packed video presented by Mohammad Bilal, head of the club’s PR team introducing the GDSC, followed by the welcome address delivered by him.

All the dignitaries present on the dais, along with other esteemed members of the faculty then proceeded with the lighting of the lamp. Dr P Lavanya, head of the CSE department spoke about the importance of such clubs and initiatives to upskill the students. She addressed the audience with full enthusiasm holding all the students captive with her encouraging words.

Dr. Lakshmipati Rao, the Director of our college enlightened the students with the importance of peer to peer learning, participation in events, also advised them on coming forward sharing their ideas and problems they’re facing and told them how teachers would help the students with whatever they require. Then the principal of our college, Dr. Prabhu G Benakop spoke about how collective efforts are required to make the club successful and how everyone should be responsible for carrying out their duties.

The primary aim behind the inaugural event was to make the students aware of the fact that the college has established a technical club for everyone to help them reach their goals, in finding the right approach, to give a platform for their ideas, and create a positive atmosphere in the student community.

After the inspiring speeches, Miss. Amima Shifa, the lead of the GDSC introduced the club and gave a brief about it’s goals, team structure, roles and future prospect. And then the stage was taken up by the Team Lead of Mobile App Development, Mr. Preetham Kasturi who shed a light on how apps play an important role in the developing world, how we can create those apps, followed by the agendas of the team and how it will be beneficial for students.

It was then proceeded by Mr. Abdul Moid Khan Mohammad, the lead of the web development team talking about how websites are important no matter how small the field of work can be and how you can make your presence felt with websites and how they will help students in making websites that will meet the modern needs. Followed by the lead of the AI & ML team, Mr. Pininti Sreekar Reddy spoke about how AI has changed our lives and how students can build their career in that particular field. Then, Mr. Hemanth, the lead of the Competitive Programming team took over to explain what competitive programming is, where it is used and how his team will help the student community to get into the field.

Taking the event forward, the Cloud and DevOps team lead, Mr. Gursimar Singh gave insights upon what Cloud & DevOps actually means and what will be its value in upcoming years. And then the most awaited moment came where Miss Dakshita Paithara and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Basith, members of the Cloud & DevOps team shared the wonderful news of 30 days of Google Cloud program where the students can expand their cloud domain knowledge and can gain rewards for doing so, they also spoke about what the program will be about and how it will take place. In the end, Miss Spoorthi, the head of the editorial section of the PR team, extended a vote of thanks and expressed her gratitude to all the college faculty and the student community for making this event a success.
